The Washi Wrap on a wooden panel is one of the latest and most innovative gallery wrap framing styles. Similar to the Canvas Gallery Wrap, this technique uses Japanese Washi paper, a unique material known for its texture and aesthetic appeal. At SpectrArt, we offer a variety of Fine Art Inkjet Washi papers, each carefully selected to suit a range of image types, allowing you to create truly distinctive prints.
Washi Fine Art Print Mounted on Wooden Panel (Washi Wrap)
Unlike traditional photographic paper, Washi provides artists and photographers with more creative possibilities, enabling them to achieve both modern and classic effects, such as oil painting-like finishes, which bring their work to life.
We specifically use Awagami Inkjet Paper for our wooden panel mounting, with Kozo (mulberry) paper being an excellent choice for this style. Kozo is a traditional fiber used in Washi making, producing exceptionally strong and archival-quality papers. In addition to being ideal for wrapping over panels, Kozo is perfect for fine art, giclée prints, museum-quality reproductions, and scrolls. Its natural semi-transparency also makes it ideal for backlit displays and other applications requiring strong yet delicate paper.
Japanese Washi float mount with floater frame
There are several wrapping options available for your Washi Wrap on wooden panels, allowing you to customize the presentation to suit your style. One option is the simple colored edge, where the image is printed only on the front face of the Washi wrap, and the sides can either remain plain white or black, or be colored to complement the artwork.
Another popular choice is the folded edge method, where the image is printed large enough to wrap around the sides of the wooden panel, creating a seamless flow from front to side. For a more sophisticated effect, you can opt for the mirrored edge method, where the image is mirrored on the sides to create a reflection-like effect, seamlessly covering the entire panel. The mirrored edge option is shown in our example image, offering a polished, professional look that enhances the overall presentation of your artwork.

Add a Stylish Floater Frame to Your Washi Wrap Wooden Panel
All of our Washi prints are created using permanent pigment inks, ensuring exceptional color intensity and image sharpness to meet archival standards. With our high-quality prints, you can effortlessly recreate museum- and gallery-quality Fine Art masterpieces.
Enhance the elegance of your Washi wrap wooden panel by adding a stylish floater frame. This popular framing method introduces a shadow gap between the panel and the frame, creating a sophisticated and contemporary look. The floating effect adds dimension and depth, making it an ideal choice for any interior, whether modern, minimalist, or traditional. The combination of Washi print and a floater frame elevates the visual impact of your artwork, making it stand out as a striking display piece in any space.

Floater Frame Option
A floater frame creates the effect of your artwork floating within the frame, with a small gap between the artwork and the frame. This style draws attention to the artwork while providing an elegant finish.
You can choose from different materials and finishes for the frame, including wood or metal. It works well with various types of artwork, including paintings, photographs, and prints, and suits both modern and traditional decor styles.
