A Canvas Floater Frame offers a sophisticated way to showcase a canvas gallery wrap by placing it inside a floating frame. This modern framing technique adds depth and dimension, creating a stylish alternative to the traditional canvas wrap mounted on a stretcher bar.

Typically crafted from wood, the floater frame surrounds the canvas without touching it directly. The gallery wrap is mounted on a wooden stretcher bar as usual, and the added thickness of the bar creates a visible gap between the canvas and the inner edges of the frame. This gap gives the illusion that the artwork is “floating” within the frame and casts a subtle shadow around the edges, adding visual depth and refinement.

For the most striking effect, we recommend positioning the canvas slightly lower than the top edge of the floater frame. This creates a clean, recessed look and gives the frame a defined presence that complements the artwork without overpowering it.
